1/10/2024 0 Comments Google's nik collectionThere were, and continues to be, no significant updates at all they were getting $149 and making some type of profit or at least paying the engineers. While they did develop "Analog Efex Pro", improvements on all the other apps all but ceased. Google dropped that to $149 immediately (just because they could). Prior to the acquisition the whole Nik professional imaging suite was a bargain for any serious professional retailing for just around $500. In 2012 Google bought Nik for one sole (consumer) product, Snapseed, in an (unsuccessful) attempt to lure Facebook users to Google+. The technology was (is) so good that if Nik decided to launch a stand alone imaging editing app Adobe would have had some serious competition. Their U point technology (at the time and still) was revolutionary allowing unprecedented enhancement control. Their product(s) were designed by professional photographers for professional photographers. I along with many imaging professionals have been using Nik since they partnered a decade (+) ago with Nikon. Here's why this is not as good news as it seems:
